They say there are two days in your life that are the most important days in your life.  We are going to talk about one of them today.  No, not your birthday, although birthdays are important.  It gives you a great day besides New Years to reflect on your life and see how you are progressing.  Your birthday is one of those days.

One of the Most Important Days of Your Life,

IS When You Discover Your Life Purpose

Only you can answer this question!

There are so many good teaching about this topic.  I know for many years, I would listen to best selling authors and speakers talk about finding Your Life Purpose and I always thought I had my purpose figured out.

So many times in my life, my purpose was just to make it thru the day, the week, or survive the month.

Other times, I had years that I was just trying to get thru.

Today, I want to share with you some inspiring ideas about how to find your life purpose.

This is a topic that some people won’t find as sexy as selling courses on lead generation, or how to generate a million leads a day.

Sure, plenty of people are doing that stuff and making a great living… but,

I believe the most important decision you can make in this world is to Design your life purpose.

This is a very hard thing to do, and let me just say that typically you will have a Life purpose and other smaller goals that connect the dots.  Finding and designing your life purpose is hard for a lot of people.

Before I get started on some inspiring ways to figure out how to find you purpose, let me ask you about the last time you went to a funeral?

I have been to so many, I can’t even remember, and I don’t want you to think that I am going off on a tangent here, but every funeral that I have been to made me really think about life, and what my purpose was.

I’ve had my best friend die in second grade, a hand full of friends died around high school and college, and the one thing that I always wondered is, Why them.  Why Now.

Most of my friends when I was younger never went on to change the world, or have families.  It made me feel as if Finding one’s purpose in life would maybe make the parting of their life more honorable.

It made me sad, seeing some of my friends, never even getting the chance to live life, explore, know what it was like having a baby, seeing some of the world’s wonders.

I know that if anything will motivate you to find your purpose, or want to make a difference in the world, it is a near death experience Or a Major Life Changing Event

I have been in several of those situations too.  I would lay in bed at night, wondering what made me so special.  Surely, God or some higher power has some type of plans for me?

So, Don’t wait until a close friend or relative passes on.  Don’t wait until you get a call from a doctor or you are almost killed in an accident to get motivated to make a difference in this world.

Life is precious.  Unfortunately most people don’t know the value of something until it is gone.

Don’t be that person.  Don’t Wait.  You have power within you.  You are made of the same energy that the stars and the planets were made from, so don’t squander your gifts, your talents.

There is an old saying that, God’s gift to you is your potential, and your gift back to Him is what you do with that potential.  Make it count.

So, I’ve taken a lot of courses and training on helping people find their purpose.  The great news is, this is really fun when you start making progress.  The other part, as I have said many times, this isn’t a one time thing.

It’s like going to the gym or going to church.  You don’t just do it until you get to a point where you think you have figured it out.  I know that you may think this is confusing, but once you start developing and growing your self as a person and leader, your goals will change.

Your purpose may be to become a doctor, lawyer, business owner, or just a good mom or dad.  In time, as your skills increase, and you become more effective and efficient, you will be able to do more.

So, you may be volunteering for church functions, teaching at universities or other chambers of commerce.  What you do in life isn’t so much what you accomplish, but how many people you will be able to help in the long run.

Now, at first, it may seem hard, thinking about developing into a leader that can help many people.  That’s ok, Just hear me out, and let’s go over a few ways you can find your purpose.

Jack Canfield trains on this topic and I feel so strongly about it, I got certified to be a Success Coach.  I won’t get into to much of the training but lets start with a simple exercise.

What makes you feel a sense of joy and happiness?

There is one exercise that helps with finding your purpose.  It starts off like this.

1.  Write out 2 of your unique personal qualities.  An example would be Enthusiasm and Creativity.

2. Make a list of the ways that you express those qualities with other people.  If you like to help and coach other people list that out.

3. Imagine that the world was perfect.  What does it look like?  Close your eyes and really focus on seeing these details.  How does the people around you interact with everyone?  What does it feel like?  Write out (in present tense) describing in detail your perfect world as you would see and feel it.  Describe the condition of it.

4.  Using the information in the first 3 steps, write out a single statement of your purpose.  I’ll Give you Jack Canfield’s Example:

“My purpose is using my creativity and enthusiasm to support and inspire others as we all freely express our talents in joyfulness, harmony and love”

Keep your purpose statement close by and read it twice a day.  You will begin to sense a feeling of empowerment and enthusiasm when you are working on the things that are focused on your purpose.

If you don’t feel joy or that feeling that you are on the right path, it is ok.

Sometimes it takes a while to get things moving in the right direction.

The Important part to remember is this.

When you find your life purpose, it becomes easier to focus on developing the skills you need to fulfill your purpose.

When you find your purpose, you will be attracted to the right type of environments and attract the right people into your life.

You will have more energy and meaning.

If you are in the process of creating a life and business, make sure you have a solid answer to what your life purpose is.  It will save you a lot of time, money and heartache chasing the wrong dreams for the wrong reasons.
